Opera
Gioachino Rossini
Il barbiere di Siviglia
14 Sep, 13 - 26 Sep, 13
Musical conductor: Tomas Hanus
Stage Director: Emilio Sagi
The best antidote to the recession. Verdi called it "The most beautiful comic opera in existence". It is an opera overflowing with joy, fun and life. Emilio Sagi, the stage director, describes it as "organised chaos", and he sees it as a comic opera that teases the morals established by society. Rossini's music is undoubtedly the perfect choice to counteract dark moments in life. Perhaps this opera is so successful not only for its musical genius (the rhythm, the happy melodies and the use of crescendo) but also for his humorous use of the orchestra. And it was this music that, after twenty years of devastating Napoleonic wars, saw the composer of Pésaro became famous throughout Europe. Il barbiere di Siviglia in the outstanding production of the Teatro Real.
